Welcome to BarnsBeamBuildings.com

Barns are magnificent structures; they are part of the fabric of America. Whether you live in the city or rual areas, all can agree on the beauty and quality workmanship it took to build these buildings.

Barns, Train Stations, Victorian homes-Buildings and old factories were built with grit and American know how. Let’s call it what it is… buildings are just not built the way they used to be.

It does not matter if you are a wood craftsman, carpenter or just a weekend warrior do-it-yourselfer.

Can you imagine making a hand hewn beam. Not with modern day power tools and equipment. No, try it with a machete and an auger drill. The labor hours put into a single beam is mind boggling.

When is the last time you went to a lumber yard for a circular rough sawn board or Beam, it just is not available. You cannot duplicate 100 year old or so lumber. The history of these wonderful old buildings are being lost.

It not hard these days to find an old rotting dilapidated building on any Main Street USA. Take a drive down any rual road, count the number of old barns falling down. Most major downtown cities demolish and rebuild new modern multi story buildings. Our old Victorian communities are being torn down for the mega footprint houses.

Progress is progress. I am not saying we should not continue to grow and develop our craftsmanship and technology. We should however be good stewards of the resources in front of us.

Sometimes these old structures have to come down. A decaying roof is usually the culprit for a collapsing barn. The same holds true for old warehouses and factories.

This site is dedicated to the repurposing of barns, beams and buildings as well as restoration when possible.

Do you have an old building needing repair or deconstruction?  Post the building on this site. There are many people like-minded as me who restore, repair, remove and repurpose old structures. Do not wait until it falls to the ground and becomes a pile of decaying rubbish.

Do you want an old barn to restore? It takes a lot of work, but if you are up to the challenges, it can be well worth the effort. Check out our listings of structures for sale.  Maybe the barn restoration is too big and daunting. Have you considered a rough sawn kitchen floor made out of reclaimed antique barn wood?

Have you seen the beauty of a reclaimed wood accent wall? Stunning would be the word.  Perhaps you make furniture or do custom millwork. The beauty and history of this old wood lives on.  Lest not forget the beauty of a hand hewn beam converted into a fireplace mantel.
